Homeros, while living during the 8th century B.C., used the name Tenedos several times in the "Ilyad" tale, explaining the Troy wars; Heredot, living in the 5th century B.C., also wrote about the island "God has created Tenedos so that people may live longer". With its ancient name Tenedos, the island nowadays named Bozcaada is one of the only places that managed to carry the traces of its long history until today.
